Project Description

Milton Hershey School

Gary Perlakowski is the Director of the Office of Applied Research at Milton Hershey School (MHS) and has been with the office since 2007. Prior to his time with Applied Research, he and his wife worked as MHS houseparents for 13 years, serving students across all three school divisions over that time. As Director, Gary is responsible for developing and implementing an annual research agenda that supports and informs the School’s mission and strategic plan. He oversees all internal and external research projects conducted at the School, and is Chair of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at MHS. Gary brings a research and evaluation lens to numerous MHS committees and workgroups, and he has worked with stakeholders from every department at the School. Gary has supported a myriad of MHS student programs and activities over the past 25 years, more recently, the Co-Pilot Mentoring Program (helping newly-enrolled students adjust to life at MHS), Milton’s Christmas Workshop (providing gifts for students to give family members over the Christmas Holiday), “Something Group” (a youth program for students committed to growing in their faith), and MHS Track & Field event officiating. Gary is a Licensed Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
