We are Now the Coalition of Residential Excellence
CORE was established in 1994 with the goal of creating a national membership organization to support and advocate for residential schools for economically and socially disadvantaged youth in the United States. While the concept of residential education has received some recognition with the scientific community and with some policy makes, it does not resonate with many residential child care agencies. Therefore, the Coalition for Residential Education has become the Coalition of Residential Excellence.
The Coalition of Residential Excellence is a national membership organization for agencies providing quality of care for children and youth who cannot be adequately cared for in their own home. Children and youth live and learn together within a safe, stable, supportive and education-focused residential communities that are designed specifically to meet their needs. CORE members are committed to ensuring children and youth remain connected to their families and communities while obtaining the values, education and skills need to become productive members of society. Members including boarding schools, preparatory schools, children's homes and ranches, residential charter schools or other residential education-based programs.
